About me

Hello! My name is Dr. Charles Greene, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia, an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH). I hold a Doctor of Behavioral Health degree and a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. I am the author of "Socially Awkward: Social Hacks for the Neurodivergent Mind."

My ideal client has been to therapy in the past and didn't feel they were helped or never really connected with the person sitting across from them. I invite clients to consider that when people hold irrational beliefs about themselves or the world, problems can result.

Socially Awkward: Social Hacks for the Neurodivergent Mind.

Theoretical Orientation

My practice embraces an all-encompassing approach toward making changes in multiple areas of your life based on Albert Ellis’s theory of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). REBT is an action-directed therapy in which emotional and behavioral problems are addressed through exploration of your beliefs. Ellis believed that if you change your thinking you can change your life.

The ABC Model

The ABC model offers a systematic way in which to look at the antecedent, behavior, and consequence to help guide you toward a desired outcome. "ABC" is an acronym for:

A: Activating event, which is when something happens in the environment around you

B: Belief, which describes your thoughts about the event or situation

C: Consequence, which is your emotional response to your belief

Cognitive Restructuring

Cognitive restructuring is a technique focused on helping the client change irrational beliefs, including logical/rationalizing techniques, guided visualization, reframing, the use of humor and irony, and the disputation of irrational beliefs.

My 5 Pillars of practice (philosophy)

1) Non-judgment (Should, ought, and must)

2) Collaboration (I am not the expert in the room and could be wrong about things)

3) Metacognition (Thinking about our thoughts. I will often ask "What do you think?")

4) Unconditional positive regard (Meeting you where you are, acceptance as you are, and self-discovery)

5) Affirmations (Acknowledgement, support, and encouragement)
